lodging

With all your help our NS trip is falling into place. In Cape Breton we will be staying either 3 or 4 nights with friends in North River. The extra night depends on whether we visit Fortress Louisburg. From North River, we will head off on the Cabot Trail, counterclockwise makes the most sense from there. We know we want to do the Middlehead Trail in Ingonish, drive around Neil's Harbour, not sure what else. What might be the best place to stop and spend the night...thinking either Dingwall or Pleasant Bay? Comments, suggestions where to stay? The next day we would do the Skyline Trail, Cheticamp, heading Towards Port Hawkesbury, where we might need to spend the night prior to heading to Halifax. We will have gone thru the Margaree Valley heading over to Ingonish Beach and time in Ingonish with our friends.

You are doing some great planning. Somewhere around Dingwall or Pleasant Bay would be great or perhaps Cheticamp. The next day you could stay at Port Hastings or somewhere on the Ceilidh Trail. Look for communities such as Inverness, Mabou, Port Hood.

If you are taking the Ceilidh Trail as you enter Cape Breton, then your last day you may get to Port Hastings or even onto the mainland. Antigonish and area have some places to stay.

look on Trip Advisor for places to stay. Be sure to check the links there to B&Bs. Also look on the accommodations listings on www.novascotia.com
