It is a very short drive, but if you want fresh cooked lobster check out Ryer's Lobster Pound on the Peggy's Cove Road.

There is Maple Syrup outlet at the beginning of the 333, there are a number of gift shops and galleries all along the route

If you are not interested in lobster as such, there is Rhubarb Cafe at Oceanstone or less formal Finer Diner

Fishermans Corner in Dover another great spot but call ahead as may not be open every day at this time of year.

Depending on which route you take to get there, you may want to check out the village of Prospect - a short diversion from the main road. It's a cute tiny village right on the water. There's no shops etc but it's very picturesque.

Be aware that there's two ways to get to Peggys Cove from Halifax. You'll end up taking the 333 no matter what, but the road is basically u-shaped (with Peggys Cove at the bottom of the U) and you can start at either end. I find the end further from Halifax to be generally more scenic, but it takes maybe 10mins longer.

Peggys Cove is along the hwy 333. This hwy is a loop that joins in two places. I highly suggest taking the scenic route that starts at the far end. It really isn't much longer, but you wouldn't know that by just looking at a map.

Take the hwy 103 out to Tantallon and get off at exit #5. Turn left off the hwy exit ramp and drive down to the end of that road. You'll be at a stop light at the large grocery store, The Superstore. Turn RIGHT at the Superstore, and then at the next light (300 feet down the road) turn left onto Hwy 333 and drive to Peggy's Cove that way. It's MUCH more scenic and a much better drive.

Some of the seasonal shops might be closed. You'll sort that out when you go along your route.

The above suggestions are all solid. I just want to throw in there the Shore Club for a lobster supper, but I don't know when you plan to visit... http://shoreclub.ca/?page_id=5

Fisherman's Corner is closed for the season and the trailer is gone. The food at Shaw's Landing in West Dover is great. I recommend it.

We just got back from Halifax - Peggy's Cove. After spending time at Peggy's, we walked down the path to the tidal pool at the far end of the tourist information booth. We then did Ryer's lobster......awesome! (the people on the picnic table behind us had obviously been there before because they had wine, salad and bread with their lobster that they had packed along) We then continued out to Tantallon where we stopped for coffee and dessert at White Sails Bakery & Deli (on Peggy's Cove Road in Tantallon) It was nice sitting on the Muskoka chairs overlooking the small lake.

You have to watch for it, but there is a lovely bakery along the way. Also, go to Cranberry Cove-my favourite.
