13 days Toronto, via London for 2 days, ending in Montreal

We are landing in Toronto, leaving 13 days later out of Montreal. Will have a hire car, love architecture and beautiful vistas, enjoy small towns and history, beautiful gardens and are nearly 60, but well travelled. Like clean decent hotels, B&Bs and farm stays. 3 star minimum and clean! Where should we go. We have to stop in London for two nights.

Thank you in advance!

Further to RescueTeam's question, are you asking about accommodations recommendations or things to see and do?

As you're probably aware, London is the opposite direction from Toronto as Montreal. London is about two hours' drive west of Toronto and Montreal is about 5 hours' drive east of Toronto (along the same highway).

St. Jacobs and Stratford are two lovely towns I really think you'd enjoy, and they are roughly on the way to London.....

Prince Edward County is a nice place to stop on your way to Montreal. There are many B&Bs, small wineries, small towns, Sandbanks Provincial Park that is popular for its beach and sand dunes. It's very busy during summer weekends. http://prince-edward-county.com/

Is there any interest in Niagara Falls/Niagara on the Lake?

Heading east from Toronto, you can get off the main 401 highway at Port Hope, and follow the old Hwy#2 along the lake towards the aforementioned Prince Edward County. This route takes you through the historical communities of Port Hope, Cobourg, Grafton and Brighton - at which point you connect with route #64 which takes you over to PEC to the Loyalist Parkway (Rte 33). Route 33 goes across the County, and back to the mainland (via a small car ferry) and along to the aforementioned Kingston and area (noted in your OTHER post on this topic).
