Spent Nov. 8 to Nov 11 in Niagara Falls Ontario. Even though the weather was cool and rainy, we ventured out and made the best of it. Stayed on the 33rd fl. of the Embassy Suites. Great view of both falls, nice location and the room was spotless, modern and had lots of nice features.
Dinner at the Keg room on a Thursday night was good. We all had steak and they seated us by the window with a perfect view of the falls. They can't guarantee your table location but they offered us the option of waiting and within 10 minutes we had a fine falls view table. Yes it's pricey but we wanted a nice meal and a nice view.
Had a great dinner at the Capri Room. Enjoyed the house special eggplant parm and the meal was fine and the price was much less than a dinner in the tourist area. It's a ten minute walk from the Embassy Suites and our doorman gave us a 10% off coupon.
We went to the butterfly conservatory and it was fascinating to wander around this tropical indoor garden with beautiful butterflies flitting around everywhere a great way to spend about an hour indoors.
We drove to the Welland Canal and watched the locks operate to navigate a large ship. There was a tour guide at lock 3 who gave us information about the locks and told us where to catch the next ship coming through the canal.
We drove to Niagara on the lake and had a nice lunch of fish and chips at the Angel Inn and pub. The town is cute and historic and a nice way to walk off your lunch wandering through the shops.
My husband went to the casino, which is next door to the Embassy Suites. There is a small shopping mall attached to the casino and my daughter and I shopped them we met up downstairs at Johnny Rockets for a hamburger and shake. Just your basic chain restaurant but my daughter loves that place and we don't have one in NJ.
One night we drove along the Niagara parkway and looked at all the Christmas lights then went back to our hotel for a starbucks. The hotel also had a nice sized pool so we swam and then got back to our room in time for the fireworks.
The falls themselves are awesome and we had so much fun getting wet every time we walked near the falls. Also took to aero car ride and the white water walk. You are charged for everything in Niagara but we wanted to enjoy all aspects of the area and we certainly did. Niagara falls is a must do for anyone.
