you can go see the falls, do the journey beneath the falls, visit the butterfly exhibit, go to the casino, take a drive along the parkway to see the festival of lights, take a walk along clifton hill, go on the giant ferris wheel, go up the skylon revolving tower, go to the imax theatre and you could also take a drive over to niagara on the lake..

hope this helps

More info about us...we are a couple of 29 years old, very active we like theater, art, museum, active life, a good bar or pub, good food wine, we are planning for several casual and some fine dinning. French, Italian, Comfort food, a good steak house, etc.

I am looking for some advice about where to go and definitive don´t miss in this holiday season in Niagara...

We are going to do a road trip from Niagara, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec.

We are also ski fans...

Thanks Again.

the journey beneath the falls is just an elevator that takes you down 40ft I think , and you walk in tunnels until you get to portals , where you can view the falls from up close....we love it especially in the winter,as there is sometimes ice buildups....makes for some great pictures...be sure to bring gloves and a hat tho, the tunnels are drafty...

for a nice decently priced italian restaurant, try zappi's...if you like brazillian food, try the copa cobana(sp),

NOTL offers quite a few wine tours at thier many winerys also

Hi josephml1;

There's no skiing around Niagara Falls. I would suggest visiting Mt Tremblant outside of Montreal, later in your trip.

If you have a car and have the time, make a trip up to the Niagara on the Lake area and visit some of the great wineries. They are fantastic and have some great wines. If you like Ice Wine ( sweet wine, very good) the region is known to have some of the best in the world.

Enjoy

Hi Josephml1,

You'll want to take a look at the Niagara Parks Commission Website = www.niagaraparks.com it will help you with your planning.

As for Journey Behind the Falls, it is indeed the only way to get up close and personal with The Falls during the Winter Months, and usually offers a good spot for some unique photos.

Wintertime in Niagara is all about the scenery... ice, snow, etc. It makes for great photos. There are certainly less attractions open, but it is also a good time to explore the "less familiar" spots for a different perspective.

The IMAX Theatre has a fairly old flick on Niagara, BUT it does offer good info as to the Geographical and Historical significance of this Wonder of the World. And the Dare Devil Museum is also housed in the same building... something that is often missed by Summer visitors... it is fun to see the barrels and other wacky contraptions that folks have used to go over The Falls in... some even successfully.

A Winter favourite of mine is a visit to the Butterfly Conservatory... a nice warm and tropical spot... and fascinating for people of all ages. The assortment of butterflies is quite interesting... and many of them will light nearby or even on you. Again, great photo ops.

As for the dining scene... NF unfortunately offers a lot of over-priced mediocre food... and a lot of it "fast food". You will find American chains that you are familiar with, but they are especially disappointing (as witnessed by the countless Reviews that reflect that... most Americans citing that they found the food super over-priced vs USA). Canadian chains on the otherhand are very popular... look for names like Tim Hortons (a Canadian Coffee institution, but also has Breakie, and light Lunches), Swiss Chalet, Kelseys, Montanas... and of course some of the local spots like The Flying Saucer.

The Keg is a Canadian Steakhouse chain (mid-range by Canadian standards), there are two locations in NF, by far the best is the Fallsview one, with its spectacular panoramic views of The Falls from the 9th Floor of the Embassy Suites Hotel.

For fine dining, NF's has 2 CAA / AAA 4-Diamond Restaurants... 17 Noir at the Fallsview Casino Resort, and AG Inspired Cuisine at the Sterling Inn & Spa.

Cheers!

Try something new and different. The Festival of Lights has erected an ice rink at the brink of the falls with skate rentals included in the price.

Kinds of a Rockefeller Centre kind of thing with cover from the mist on misty days and open air on "nice" days.

It's pretty big about 2 thirds the size of a regulation NHL hockey rink.

Check the Niagara Parks Commission Website of Festival of Lights website for details on prices and hours.
