Skyline Inn or Crowne Plaza for seniors??

My parents have stayed awhile back at the skyline and liked it..nothing fancy, close to the casino for penny slots, food coupons included....my mom is confined to a walker so this was all more easy for her. Crowne Plaza(old Brock Plaza) has a package and is right there as well...have you been to both? which would you recommend?

A couple things to consider...

Now that the Waterpark is joined to the Skyline Inn, it tends to tailor more to families with children than couples. However, in the offseason it calms down and would be a perfectly good stay for seniors.

While the Crowne Plaza can also accommodate families, it tends to tailor more to a less roudy bunch. If it were me and I had to decide, I would opt for the Crowne Plaza for a more quite and relaxing stay.

If your travelling in the cooler months, it would be helpful to know that both have indoor access to Casino Niagara. If your staying at the Skyline Inn, you'll need to walk through the waterpark and down some elevators to get there. This is not the case for the Crowne Plaza. which offers more convenient direct access to the casino.

Both are nice hotels, however in the winter the Crowne Plaza is connected to the entertainment complex. Also the Skyline dims the lights in the halls as many of the rooms face the courtyard at night, not a problem for most but a senior we were travelling with found it hard to navigate and fell.

I actually drove to the Falls today to check out the Skyline Inn and the Sheraton at the Falls....I found the Skyline to be so dingy, is something wrong with me? The Sheraton wants $150 more for a 2 night stay...have you been to the Sheraton is it worth it?

Hi Jeniz,

Welcome to the NIAGARA FALLS TRAVEL FORUM.

If you haven't already I suggest that you check out the REVIEWS Section for these HOTELS IN NIAGARA FALLS (click on the button with that name to the left of this screen).

I did a quick check... and I hope this info will help you even more.

Currently (Saturday, March 6, 2010 just after 10 PM EDT) out of 132 listed with TA for NIAGARA FALLS they rank as follows:

# 9 = Crown Plaza Niagara Falls - Fallsview is a 3-1/2 Star Hotel (as ranked by the Hotel Industry) with 4 HOOTS for Satisfaction by TA Members (like yourself) who have visited and wrote Reviews and completed a survey. The Hotel has currently 171 Reviews last one written March 4, 2010. And of that 84 were Excellent and 38 were Very Good... for a total Thumbs Up Rating of 77%.

# 10 = Skyline Inn is a 3 Star Hotel with 4 HOOTS for Satisfaction by TA Members. The Hotel has currently 278 Reviews last one written March 3, 2010. And of that 108 were Excellent and 82 were Very Good... for a total Thumbs Up Rating of 76%

I think that the reason the Crowne Plaza can charge more is because they are both a higher rated hotel = 3-1/2 Stars and also offers more amenities (Biz Centre - Fitness Centre - Restaurant - Room Service - Pool).

Now as for the Sheraton

# 4 = Sheraton on the Falls is a 4 Star Hotel with a 4-1/2 HOOTS for Satisfaction by TA Members. The Hotel currently has 1,090 Reviews last one written March 4, 2010. And of that 615 were Excellent and 262 were Very Good... for a Total Thumbs Up Rating of 85%

Again here you are dealing with a property offering more services (hence the 4 Stars).

I suggest that you spend your time reading thru the Reviews, and thereby get a feel for the properties... perhaps you'll find the choice easier to make.

Cheers!
