Casino at night

We are staying at Queens Landing in NOTL for our anniversary, but would like to spend some time at the casino each evening.

How far is the drive from NOTL. What time would be best to drive there? Any dinner recommendations near the casino. My husband does not like buffets.

Hi californiadreaming09;

NotL is approx. 15 miles / 23 km from Niagara Falls. The drive is about 20 minutes.

For good food and GREAT views, I would suggest The Keg Steakhouse on the 9th floor of the Embassy Suites Hotel, overlooking the Falls.

kegsteakhouse.com/en/…

FYI...there are two casinos in Niagara Falls, Casino Niagara and The Fallsview Casino & Resort.

Best Regards

Hi CaliforniaDreaming09,

Welcome to the NIAGARA FALLS TRAVEL FORUM.

Good info here from my colleague RESCUE TEAM… I would just add that with the two casinos they are at pretty much opposite ends of the Falls Gorge… so that opens up a lot of possibilities when it comes to places to eat… consequently knowing more about your “vision”, budget, likes / dislikes, favourite foods etc… might be helpful.

In the meantime...

I will say that you might want to take a look at the more high-end award winning Restaurants merely as a “Starting Point”.

Niagara Falls had Three (3) CAA / AAA 4 Diamond Award Winners in 2011…

# 1 – AG Inspired Cuisine – at the Sterling Inn & Spa (a CAA 4 Diamond Winner since 2008)

# 38 – Ponte Vecchio – at the Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort (a CAA 4 Diamond Winner since 2009)

# 80 – 17 Noir – at the Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort (a CAA 4 Diamond Winner since 2005)

*NOTE – the numbers refer to the Restaurant’s current ranking here on the TA RESTAURANT REVIEWS as of today, Tuesday ~ June 28, 2011 at just after 8 PM EDT (out of 278 Restaurants for NF). Rankings fluctuate greatly over the course of a year, and based on who is writing the REVIEWS… When there are more Tourists in town vs Locals there seems to be an increase in the number of budget and medium priced Restaurants that move to the top of the list… (so totally possible to see a Tim Hortons in the Top 10 if they get a lot of REVIEWS on TA). Things move around because they are “active”… and can move ahead truly based on the volume of REVIEWS… not necessarily the Quality of the Eating Experience to be had at them… (Fall thru Spring and the Locals are more active in the foodie scene… and so all those more run-of-the-mill places fall back into place where they probably more realistically belong).

For more info on the 2011 CAA / AAA Diamond Winners see the topic entitled *2011 CAA / AAA Diamond Awards – Restaurants (NF Region)* = tripadvisor.ca/ShowTopic-g154998-i97-k419429…

And by the sounds of things, Canadian Chef (and celebrity) Massimo Capra’s Rainbow Room (new to the NF Restaurant Scene) by all accounts will be on CAA’s 4 Diamond List for 2012… currently ranked on TA at # 10… it can be found at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Hope this is helpful,

Cheers!

Wine-4-2

PS... And as you are staying in NOTL... a similar list of 2011 CAA / AAA Diamond Award Winners can be found in that TRAVEL FORUM as well.

leave yourself some extra time and enjoy that drive. Lots of great photo ops with places to stop and park along the way. Any time of day is fine.
