March 24th coming to Niagra

March 24th we are coming to Niagra and I'm looking for two recommendations. We hope to be arriving around noon on the 24th.

One, Really only looking to spend one night in Niagra we are looking for the best hotel with the best fallsview room. Money really isn't an object we are more looking for a nice room with a great view. Not looking for a suite though. We are considering the Marriot for now.

Two, We have another day that we don't know what to do with? After we enjoy all we can the 25th we want to travel somewhere else and enjoy another area. Any recommendations? I'm coming from Ann Arbor, So I could take America or Canada's route back. Also not looking to go to far off the path back. Considering going to buffalo to get some wings and then also considering Toronto. Just don't know what we would do in Toronto arriving late that day and having most of Sunday to do what we want. We want to be back in Ann Arbor late Sunday Night.

Also what do I need to know about when it comes to Canada? I have read some of the post and it sounds like I have to pay to park my car at the hotel I will be at? Is this true? Also any other hidden cost?

Any must do's that are open during this time in Niagra?

I'm also going to keep reading other post.

Lawson23,

Most fallsview hotels do charge for parking, most are valet because parking is often off-site. You could go to the fallsview casino and get a players club card, that would allow you to park free, however, for one night I think I would just pay the valet fee myself.

My wife & I love NF and it just seems to me that you may want to decide to spend more time there than what you are planning on. I see you want to be home by the night of the 25th so you could stay till noon then head back. However, you can do quite a bit in NF in an afternoon if you put your mind to it. You should do Journey Behind the Falls, Check out Clifton Hill (eventhough its pure tourist trap, I still would take a stroll up there anyhow.

Whatever you decide...ENJOY

Thanks Dan for the info. I have just read alot of reviews that Niagra is a one day deal. We are arriving like I said early Friday. Who knows though if we do like it maybe we will stay another night. Should I be worried about being able to keep my room around that time of the year? If we decided to stay?

Also what is this surcharge bit on internet access in the Hotel?

If you are ariving on a Friday, you may or may not get to keep the room for Saturday night. Since it isnt high-season yet you should be ok.

I don't know of anything special that weekend in NF, some of the locals "franklinda" , "polywog" and others may post with some more details.

I think some hotels offer free internet, but, not sure which ones. I don't have a notebook (except the kind with paper in, LOL) to travel with and never really checked it out.

If you arrive before noon on the 24th, and are not planning on leaving till around noon the 25th you will still have a nice visit. It all depends how leisurely you want the trip to be. Besides, you aren't all that far away, you can always go back for a more leisurely visit another time.

We live in central PA and have never done a 1 night trip, but, it isn't out of the question either. May just do that for the wifes birthday in April. Since that won't be our weekend off. HMMM....now that's got me thinking.

You may want to consider checking the Ramada as well. It's located in the Konica-Minolta tower and has some nice reviews on here with some pretty good rates as well. Due to the shape of the building the rooms are a bit smaller than average in the newer hotels, but, the view...WOW. We have never stayed their ourselves, but, know people who have and they were well pleased. We have been to their observation level and the view was super.

Just some thoughts,

Dan

HI Lawson23

First of all I love weluvstuff and he knows it..you are best off getting a 2 night package deal...There is alot to do, and you are coning up at spring break time...The marriott is your best bet for the best view..however..if you go to www.travelzoo.com...the Embassy could give you a better price on a jacuzzi suite..Most hotels will charge you for parking...The Embassy and Marriott only offer valet parking...the Hilton and the Oakes charge a lesser fee for self parking...Please keep in mind that restaurant prices are way more expensive then most places...If you do get a voucher for a reataurant in your hotel...please consider that voucher is worth the price of one person eating. .My personal best hotels are the Oakes and the Hilton.

Hope this helps:)

Thank you for all the info we have been trying to figure out what we want to do.

We may be considering two days now.

Question does anyone know of some good spa places in buffalo that do massages? We still plan on going to buffalo and figure this could be something we do their during the visit.

As far as hotels now we are not sure and out of our mind.

Considering

Marriot

Embassy

Hilton

Doubletree (although not much info. available)

Ramada

Hi Lawson23

The Doubletree and Marriott have Massage packages...I think the Hilton does as well..We had friends who got a massage at the Doubletree and really enjoyed themselves:)

Spend the extra day in Niagara on the Lake and hit a few wineries. It is really the premier destination in the region next to Toronto. If interested I can recommend an itinerary....

We've been to Niagara many times, stayed at the Hilton 3 times and got jacuzzi rms all 3 times. I have no complaints about the Hilton excpet for $20 prkg per STAY, most other fallsview hotels charge $20 per day. No other hidden costs though.

We're going again this wknd but considering the ES or the Marriott, because of the rave reviews I've read on tripadvisor.

Either way I think the top 3 on my list would be:

Embassy

Hiton

Marriott

Have fun!
