Hotels charging $$$ to park?

I guess the parking in Niagra Falls is sooo limited that they charge $ to park even if YOU STAY and park in the hotel?! Any way to get around this? Do the hotels automaticlly charge even if you park somewhere else. I will be staying at the Howard Johnson By the Falls.

Each hotel has its own policy.........not all charge to park, especially some of the chains along Lundy's Lane......best to check with the hotel directly for specific details...

Hotels charging for parking is fairly common stuff now James (not that I agree with it)...Sterling Inn and Spa doesn't though-nice place too.

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking ... yes - most hotels these days do charge guest parking ... it's fairly common wherever you go. But no - if you are not parking/using the hotel parking facilities, they will not charge you. However, bear in mind, most hotel parking includes in and out privileges, whereas public lots charge every time you enter and depart.

Most hotels outside the big cities and tourist areas do not charge for parking. Niagara is a tourist city, so many hotels-but not all--charge for parking. The higher the star rating, the more expensive parking can be.

You would expect free parking at the Holiday Inn off I-80, but not at the Holiday Inn off the Mag Mile. Same applies to hotels in Niagara. Further away from the Falls, more free parking, closer to the Falls, more expensive parking.

Yet not always, the Comfort Inn on Clifton Hill offers free parking Sun-Thursday until late May. On weekends its just $8 a day. Can't beat the location and yet has free parking during the off season during the week.

Yeah, paying for parking sucks, but it's a part of the tourism business that you have to live with...

This is the part I have a Problem with...

TOURIST ADVISORY: "...the fee is voluntary and that if visitors don't like it, they can request not to pay it and it must be removed from their bills." http://www.niagarafrontier.com/marketfee.html

If your hotel is close to either casino in Niagara Falls, ON, just park in the casino parking. Make sure to play using your players card to ensure free parking. Apparently the parking costs a little if they are very busy. I've heard from $5-10 C, but still less than the hotels.
