Should I convert my American Money to Canadian?

Is it worth converting? From some things that I have seen, they do take American money but not sure of all places. Also, where can I get it converted??

I used my Visa card for every purchase except 1-postcards and stamps at a shop. There, I paid American and got Canadian back in change which I wound up using as tip for dinner 1 night. I probably could have charged that purchase too but it was under $6 and I figured I'd just pay cash.

I did pay a 1% conversion fee for using my Visa which I felt was minimal (about $7 total on $820 CDN purchases-hotel, meals, attractions). Check with your credit card companies-that Visa was my debit/Visa and my other Visa only card charged 3% so I never used it.

From other posters on this site it seems the Casino will give you the best exchange rate. Using the debit-but as a charge card-was very convenient for me. I just wrote down charges as what I was charged CDN and when we got home went online and adjusted my checkbook accordingly to what we actually were charged US-varied a little but between 11% and 12% less.
