Toronto/Niagara Falls January 2015

Hello all,

I will be in TO for 8 nights in January and as a solo traveller was planning on splitting my trip up as follows :-

4 nights TO

2 nights NF

2 nights TO

I've booked hotels for my entire stay so far however I am flexible with regards to my last 4 nights for the simple reason I am not sure if 2 nights might be too long down in NF. I plan to be in NF on a Tuesday/Wednesday night. Is NF busy midweek in January? I like a good drink and was hoping to go round a few bars but I was hoping for some advice as to whether there'd be much of an atmosphere around the town midweek or if 2 nights in NF might be too long and I'd be best doing 1 night and then going back to TO for the remainder of my stay. Any advice with regards to NF in January would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Kindest regards,

Midweek in January will not be busy in Niagara Falls. Some of the major attractions close for the winter, but there is still lots to see and do if you are inclined. There is lots of information here on TA in the 'Things to Do' tab at the top, and the 'Top Questions' area at the right. The Winter Festival of Lights will also still be on in Queen Victoria Park. If you have a car, you could also visit Niagara on the Lake and wineries in the area.

Most bars will be quiet during the week, and you would be hard pressed to find any with live music. The exception will be at the 2 casinos, which always seems to be busy.

1 or 2 days really depends on what you plan to do. If you are just seeing the Falls and checking out a few bars, then 1 night will probably do it.

Thanks for the prompt reply fallsdude. I'm looking forward to seeing the Horseshoe Falls and will check out the Winter Festival of Lights thanks for pointing that out for me. Other than that I'm looking at taking a walk around, go to The Keg Steakhouse due to the good reports on tripadvisor and then have a few beers in the town. If there's any bars in particular that are more inclined to be busier than most it would be greatly appreciated.

I considered going to NOTL but I'll just be getting the Greyhound down from TO so probably just skip that out to be honest. I'm going to amend my stay in NF to one night as I think that might be enough for me to see/do all I want to there then head back to TO.

Once again, thanks for the reply. I daresay it'll be a lot colder over your neck of the woods than here in Ireland so I'll be bringing a few layers with me :)
