family friendly in August

Our family is going to Niagara Falls in early August. We have a total of 5 kids between the ages of 5 and 9. Does anyone recommend a family friendly hotel that is reasonably priced? We need a pool and parking for sure.

Thanks.

Are you looking for a large, chain hotel near the Falls. During the summer season, these are usually very expensive. If a smaller Inn/motel type place would be OK, there are dozens to choose from. Let us know the type of place and location you are looking for and we can narrow it down better.

We would be happy to do a small non-chain, if we knew one would be clean and had a pool. Continental breakfast would be a plus, but not necessary. Do you recommend such a place? We are looking at the Holiday Inn next to the Skylon. Any feelings about it?

The Holiday Inn is OK if you can get good rates. Here are a few more to check:

Clifton Hill area-

Days Inn & Suites by the Falls http://www.daysbythefalls.com/

Chalet Inn http://chalet-inn.com/

Blackstone Inn http://www.fallscasino.com/black_stone/

Fallsview area -

Comfort Inn Fallsview choicehotels.com/ires/en-US/html/HotelInfo…

Kings Inn Lodge

Vacation inn http://vacationniagara.com/

Lundy's Lane (drive to Falls area) Dozens of places

Hope this helps some.

We were there for the first time last July and stayed at the Days Inn & Suites on Centre Street, just up from Clifton Hill. Free parking, pool and we thought the hotel was wonderful. Able to walk everywhere or at least to catch the People Mover, although our kids were 9 and 11 at the time. Free continental breakfast as well. Also, we had a mini fridge and microwave which was nice. Best price I found for the amenities. Also looked into Quality and Comfort Inn and I think they would have been great too but the Days is a little set back from the action, maybe a little quieter. There was an independent type motel right across the street that also looked decent and maybe a little less expensive but I can't recall the name-could that be the Blackstone? My opinion is that you don't spend much time on vacation in the room, especially in a place like Niagara Falls. Do pay attention to the reviews on this site -they are extremely helpful-but as long as every other post doesn't refer to roaches or bedbugs, you have to figure some people are extremely picky and go with the majority. I'd base your choice on price, location and amenities. Free parking and breakfast were very important to us-without that you can add probably upwards of $65/night (easily) onto your hotel cost for 2 adults and 5 kids. Fallsview rooms are also very important to a lot of people but I'm a cheapskate and instead we just walked down and looked at the falls 20 or 30 times the 2 days we were there-same thing I do when I'm at the ocean and don't pay for the oceanview room! You will have a great time!

There are actually 3 motels on Center St. very near the Days Inn: the Olympia, the Oasis and the Cavalier. They are all classic motel style establishments that maintain their properties very well. I work near there and can tell you that they are all very busy in the summer, and even today, each has a few cars in the lots.

I highly recommend checking out niagarafamilyinn.com.

They are a family owned and operated hotel, that is one of the cleanest around. They offer a pool and free parking during your stay. They are less than 5 minutes from Clifton Hill, and also have a GREAT restaurant attached to the hotel. The prices are very low compared to others in the area, and they offer spacious rooms with three beds.
