From Toronto, Ottawa is in the opposite direction (east) of niagra falls, so from toronto you would drive 80 miles to the falls, 80 miles back, then 280 miles to Ottawa and 280 miles back.
Hmm, don't know about that. Crossing the international border twice, in the summer? Hmmm. Maybe stay in Canada, spend a few dollars and take the toll highway (407) and get past Toronto pretty quickly. You could then consider taking the 7 the rest of the way to Ottawa which isn't the fastest but is the more interesting way to do it if you are not in a tearing hurry and want to see a slice of Ontario.
