1 night in Ottawa for hockey game

Hi All,

We're headed to Montreal for Christmas but will be staying in Ottawa on December 28th for a hockey game. We're going to be staying at the Comfort Inn West and will be arriving early in the day. I know this area is a little outside the way of downtown Ottawa. Did not know if there is anything of interest to see or do before/after the game. Restaurant recommendations in the area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Most of what you would want to see would be in downtown Ottawa, depending on your interests I'd see Parliament Hill, the Byward Market and possibly the War Museum...

There is really not anything to see or do near your hotel. Downtown is about a 20 minute drive away.

About 2km from your hotel is Kanata Centrum, which is an awkwardly designed shopping mall with about a dozen good bars and restaurants... most of which would be very suitable for a pre-game meal. If you're driving to the game from your hotel.... allow extra time as there is massive congestion in the area both before and after the game. Public transit may also be an option from hotel to restaurants to arena and back.

There are also a couple of good bars and restaurants in the arena itself if you feel like going early...

The Diefenbunker Cold War Museum is in Carp, about 20 minutes from your hotel.
