Hi can you visit Centre Island without going to Centreville, or is that all thats on the Island?

If so how much would it cost just to visit the Island.

check out the above link for info on the islands

The fare for the ferry is $6 for adults and 3.50 for students.

apart from centerville, its basically a big park. you can rent bikes and ride around, there are also beaches and bbq facilities. its a pretty nice place

There actually is a great deal more to it than Centreville. In fact I'd call it the best least visited of Toronto's attractions. First off you can get a fabulous view of the city from the ferry taking you to and from the island -- perfect for photography. Next, the eastern part of the island where people live is very interesting for walking around -- a quirky little community to look at. For the more adventuresome, in good weather, at the other end of the island is the clothing optional beach at Hanlon's Point. Note also, regarding the ferries, that you can take a ferry to one part of the island (Ward, Centre, Hanlon) and take the ferry back from either the same or either of the others. So you can go for a walk along the island and not have to retrace your steps if you don't want to.

Have a great visit.

The gorgeous parkland on our Toronto islands would be a PERFECT antidote to a manic itinerary. You can, as someone said, ride a bike or just walk and enjoy the sounds of the water from our harbour. They do some beautiful horticultural stuff over there the summer, structured gardens and fountains. It's just a beautiful little oasis that not many take the time to visit.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to renting a canoe or pedal boat on the Toronto Islands? (visiting in late May)

There is a rental area towards the south end of the Island...it will likely show on the maps posted or ask any park employee.
