Need suggestions for a romantic and fun trip to Toronto

My husband and I have never visited Toronto. Visiting in early June and it will be a 2nd honeymoon. We will be spending a couple nights in Toronto (staying at the Toronto Hilton), going to a Blue Jays game one night and perhaps Dave Mathews concert. Would like to explore the city but also want to drive somewhere for a couple nights to stay somewhere really scenic with opportunities to explore a quaint areas with nice shops, restaurants and places we can rent and ride bicycles without a lot of traffic. Also we would enjoy being able to take some nice hikes and walks. Suggestions for areas we could go on a 2-3 night getaway out of the city (not more than 1-2 hours out)??

"not more than 1-2 hours out"

Unfortunately, this is not an easy request to satisfy because Toronto is part of a large urbanized region.

We'd suggest Niagara-on-the Lake; it really ticks off most of your boxes. On a good day at the right time it will be between 90- 120 minutes away by car, but if you were to leave Toronto on a Friday afternoon it could take you 3 hours. Plan accordingly!

agree Niagara on the Lake, if you like theatre look at shaw festival for great shows. Nice dining too but probably better to reservations. There are also wine tours. Could even spend a night in a small BB if you wanted.

You all are awesome, thank you...Niagara on the Lake looks exactly like what we are looking for with the wineries, biking, horseback riding, etc., I'm so excited!! If anyone has specific suggestions on where to stay or other unusual/cool activities for some young-at-heart and active 50 year olds, would love to hear them. Mahalo from Hawaii!

i have never stayed because i live close by but it is a quaint little town, lots of small BB for overnight.

Niagara falls is not that far away if you are coming all that way and spending a night, but NOL is much prettier and more romantic.
