Transport from downtown Toronto to Bolton

We will be staying in downtown Toronto (Delta Chelse, Gerard St West) in September, and need to get to Bolton (12275 Hwy 50) to pick up an RV. It seems there is no direct transport, and we understand the distance is about 52km, so not exactly local!.

The RV Rental company have said they can organise a taxi to pick the two of us up (with suitcases) for $85. Is this a reasonable charge? Or is there a better / cheaper way, e.g. booking a taxi downtown?

That is a reasonable deal.

The regulated tariff for a metered taxi is $4.25 for the first km and $1.75 for each additional km, plus $0.58 per minute for any stopped time (traffic lights, etc.) . So, that's a minimum of $95, if you are doing the journey at a time when there is no other traffic on the road and every light is green.

Unless you want to hunt down a gypsy cab, you should probably take the deal.

Agree ... that is a reasonable price (although you'll likely have to tip the driver also). It's unlikely that a taxi driver in downtown Toronto would know much about getting to Bolton ...

There is Go transit, the afternoon rush has the ability to get you to Bolton.....you could also get yourself to Brampton and then take a taxi from Malton station, it would be cheaper....but a bit time consuming.....

Check out gotransit.com

Thanks for all replies. We think with large suitcases, the public transport may be difficult. Glad to hear the price is reasonable!

Would you say a tip of $15 - i.e. $100 total - was OK?

Hi Gammon_HC;

Yes, $100 would be good.
