Hilton Garden Inn, Toronto City Centre, 200 Dundas Street

Is this hotel a reasonable place to stay. We are seniors and want to be fairly central in the City and close to some public transport to get out and see the sites. We are happy to walk a few kms to places.

If you can recommend anything else please do.

Haven't stayed here in a couple years but have heard from others it's very nice since Hilton took over from Comfort Suites. Will be totally honest with you when I say this area has its fair share of panhandlers and if this makes you uncomfortable maybe look a bit farther west towards Yonge. We have stayed a few times lately at Cambridge Suites which is a block East of Yonge Street and Richmond and we feel you can't beat the location.

It's not an area I'd send seniors to, it's just on the edge of a slightly sketchy area of town where there are a number of social service agencies and "soup kitchen" facilities in that area. Nothing wrong with that, as long as you're prepared for all the folks talking to the little voices, but it doesn't necessarily make a great first impression of the city.

In similar price categories, all in the downtown core, all within lots of interesting walking places:

Cambridge suites, as Mayaluvr notes, Hotel Victoria (small rooms, but great locale), Novotel Toronto Centre, Radisson Harbourfront and the Holiday Inn Toronto Bloor Yorkville up by the Museum. Check them out for rates and amenities, see if they suit your needs.

I thought it was a great party hotel when I stayed there. Was clean and place did quiet down at night. Didn't notice any seniors around.

I would suggest another location, yeah on Bloor st. sounds good.

It's more of a party hotel for sure....close to clubs and a strip club.....Cambridge Suites would e better suited I believe, a little better situated as well...
