Best hotel and location for a girls weekend?

There are four of us planning an August trip to Toronto. Where should we look for hotels- is downtown area the best? What are some nicer mid-scale hotels?

Location wise i would recommend the Sheraton Centre which is within walking distance of the Entertainment district , shopping and lots of restaurants. It is a huge hotel with a great indoor outdoor pool and sundeck.

Downtown is best, most attractions and bars/clubs that you may want to go to will be downtown...

The Park Hyatt has a great location. Very nice neighborhood, lots of shopping and good restaurants within walking distance.

Perhaps you could tell us - dollar-wise - what you consider to be a mid-scale hotel? Also - what you want to do on this weekend - if you're interested in clubbing/bars, etc. then a downtown location is best. Otherwise, the Yorkville neighbourhood, where the Park Hyatt is located, is as CharlieRogers notes, a great mid-town location for shopping, restaurants, museums, galleries, etc. There are other lesser priced hotels in that neighbourhood as well.

I too like the Sheraton Centre, but the other suggestions are also viable....the Sheraton is in a central location and so easy to get around, however as long as you are close to the TTC (bus and subway) you'll get around easily...............3rd from the left, in the green "Header Bar" near the top of this screen you'll find Toronto hotels and their prices......this may help you to decide.......the website below will give you info on some local events........

Thanks! We're looking to spend around 200-300 US/night. We want to go out, but not so much in to the club scene. Does the Yorkville neighborhood have bars and stuff as well as shopping? How far would the Sheraton be from there? I think we also want to see a show.

Yes, Yorkville has bars and restaurants as well as shopping. Yorkville is a high-end neighbourhood, very safe and is centrally located in the downtown core. The Sheraton would be about a 15-20 minute walk or a 5 minute cab ride away. Both locations are good areas to stay. The Sheraton is south of Yorkville....the further south the closer to Lake Ontario. You are not far from the action in either locale.

If that's your price range, I suggest you might really like Le Germain (Mercer Street), the Soho Met or the Thompson. All are in the thick of the new hot area of King Street West, walking distance to Queen West with tons of one-off designer shops and cafes. All are within about 15 minute to Yorkville (by taxi or just hop the subway). The Park Hyatt is a great hotel, but right now, it's across the street from a massive construction sight (the OLD Hyatt 4 Seasons being repurposed into ... what else? ... condos). If you prefer to stay midtown in that Yorkville area, consider instead the Hotel Intercontinental Yorkville - wonderful "boutique" hotel in the Intercontinental brand.

Park Hyatt is above your price range.

I tend to think Yorkville area has more to offer for people above 30 years old, while King/Queen has more (nightclubs) for those under 30.

If Park Hyatt is beyond your budget, the Holiday Inn Yorkville may work.
