Short visit to Toronto

We'll stop in Toronto for one night or two during our trip to Niagara falls. we are two adults and a 12yo girl. We would like to have some suggestions on what are in your opinion the things which we cannot miss. We are not interested in shopping, and only relatively interested in museums, given the very limited time. We like very much walking around. We would like to concentrate on specific 'Toronto's things', which can be seen and done only in Toronto. The CN tower, of course. What else?

Thanks in advance

The "Top questions about Toronto" links on the right side of this page should help you.

The main museums in Toronto are the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) and the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO). There are smaller museums on specific subjects in the city as well.

You might also enjoy walking around the Distillery District (historical site re-adapted as an arts and entertainment complex) or interesting neighbourhoods such as Kensington Market, Chinatown, The Beaches, or Cabbagetown.

What day(s) of the week would you be here?

Grabbing lunch at St. Lawrence Market is very Toronto. Also, a good local place for breakfast is the Senator Diner (www.thesenator.com) It's Toronto's oldest restaurant (1929) and the food is very good. I also second the Distillery District.

Thanks a lot for your useful suggestions. The plan is not finalized yet, but I should be there not on the weekend.
