Friday night dinner?

Friends coming from U.S. - we're meeting up in Toronto. We're staying in High Park area and want to "do Toronto" on Friday...AGO, Kensington Market, dim sum for lunch. Any recommendations for a fun place for dinner? We did the Sultan's Tent last year - looking for something a little out of the ordinary without paying extraordinary prices! Music and/or entertainment might be fun? thanks.

If you are in AGO/Kensington mkt area, I would recommend Baldwin St. You have a choice of Italian, French, Maxican and Malaysian restaurants in one block. All of them pretty good and not very expensive. I have tried them all.

There is Medieval Times, though I would not say the food is extraordinary but the entertainment value is decent...

If you have never been to a Japanese Pub, Guu Isakaya on Church Street is an amazing dining experience. It is not expensive either. Be prepared to be pleasantly surprised. Perfect place for a group intent on having a ball!

If you're into fun try Guu Izakaya on Church Street just north of Gerrard. The restaurant is loud with a great energy. The cooks cheer and yell as they whip up authentic Japanese dishes right before your eyes. By the way, the food is awesome and the friendly atmosphere is simply great. Expect to talk loud.

GUU Sakabar at Bloor and Bathust is pretty different/interesting. Make sure to get there early though because by about 7pm, the lineup will be long.
