Getting to Toronto from Markham

I'm headed to Ontario next weekend in advance of a week of biz in Markham. I'll have my Sunday free and thought I might try to make my way to Toronto from Markham for a day of sightseeing. I hadn't planned to rent a car as I won't need one for my business.

Is there a good way to get back and forth via public transportation? I'm staying at the Delta Hotel in Markham. Many thanks.

There are a number of different options depending on the time of day and your destination within Toronto. The various transit providers are integrated within google maps so just input your starting and ending points, select publc transportation plus the day and time of departure

If heading downtown, gotransit.com would be a good bet....

The "viva Purple" bus has a stop just outside that hotel. Two ways into Toronto:

- Take viva Purple west to Richmond Hill Centre, transfer to viva Blue southbound to Finch subway station, and then take the subway into downtown (about an hour and 15 minutes), or

- Take viva Purple east to Unionville GO station and a GO bus to Union Station in Toronto (a little faster, but less frequent service). gotransit.com/publicroot/… has schedules.
