Day trip

Looking for ideas for a day. With in an hour or so of Toronto. We have done Wonderland, zoo, Ontario Place, centre island. Does anybody have a favorite that we haven't been to yet? Taking kids 10 & 13. Would like to hear any ideas?

Niagara Falls is closer to two hours, but if you haven't been I think the kids would love it. As well as seeing the falls, Marineland is fun for kids. Nearer, to Toronto there is Black Creek Pioneer Village which is worth the trip. Right in the city is Casa Loma, also worth a tour.

As well there is the Ontario Science Centre, most kids really enjoy it. Have you thought of the African Lion Safari?

I know a lot of kids love go karts, .not sure if that is something that would appeal to your kids. Here is a link.

Lastly, the play Lord of the Rings is in it's final weeks in Toronto, many kids do enjoy that sort of thing.

Check out the T/A site for details on all the above suggestions.

Good luck!

Hi Jillibean,

If you don't mind going a little further afield and are open to something cultural not just outdoorsy, I would recommend a trip to see Oliver! in Stratford.....great production for kids that age, and not a bad drive from Toronto.

African Lion Safari in Cambridge would be fairly reasonable time wise too.

I'm with the Decorator on this one. Black Creek Pioneer Village is an interesting step back in time. Ontario Science Centre is both fun and educational.

Another idea: www.wildwaterkingdom.com Just get there early in the day!

-Horseback riding. There are a lot in the Stouffville area. You can google it or just drive up there. It's about 45 mins from Downtown Toronto.

-The Wave Pool in Richmind Hill. The only wave pool in GTA. You have to call them for hours and fees.

-Wild Water Kingdom!
