Allan Gardens itself is a large park at Carlton & Jarvis. During the day it is lovely; at night, it can be populated with a few of the less desirable elements in our city, and would be wiser not to hang out there.

If you are, rather, asking about the gorgeous Victorian Glass Greenhouse that sits on the property, I was just there a few weeks ago. It is free, and open every day. Photography is permitted (even tripods!), although not portrait photography/wedding stuff, since that gets in the way of the patrons. My own experience is that on weekdays it's almost empty, weekends busier, with people bringing in wee children, because it's such a wonderful place to let them explore. Love the place. Sooooo peaceful. Relatively unknown, too, even though it's been there for eons.

Allan Gardens was featured in the 2009 movie Chloe....it is a decent enough movie, you do get to see many interesting parts of the city!

This is one of the hidden secrets of Toronto. It is totally free and has a really beautiful Victorian style greenhouse that has hundreds of tropical plants. Not many Torontonians also know of this place and it is in walking distance from the city center.
