Help with condo location

My son,24 years old, will be in Toronto presenting a paper at UT in August and we would like to spend 3 days with him after he is done at UT. Please advise on condos listed as far as access to sightseeing, cool neighborhoods, things to do etc. We will be driving to Toronto.

Quite an interesting mix.

To give you a general idea (not having actual addresses) of where they are located, here is a google map link. A is the first, B is the second, etc. E is the downtown campus of U Toronto.

The first one in Swansea is the furthest from the downtown core, where most activities are located (museum, CN Tower, shopping, etc). However it is a lovely residential neighbourhood, with easy access to the subway, so don't discount it.

Everything is in easy access to downtown - our public transit (TTC) is convenient and easy to use, rather than driving a car in the city.

For more info, see the Top Questions section to the right of the page.

Phpr, Thank you so much for your response and the map. AWESOME!!!! Being in our 50's we like quick access to public transportation , but love neat neighborhoods that have a charm....but lots of restaurants and fun things to do. Thanks so much for your help! ANy other suggestions of neighborhoods vs downtown are appreciated!

If I was going to choose one of those you've indicated, I'd for sure pick the Swansea one. Bloor West / High Park utterly charming area of the city, and the gorgeous Humber River area up there for walking (the Old Mill for great Saturday night music, too). Riverdale is a very cool area of the city, but if you aren't familiar with us yet, then being out that way might be inconvenient. Swansea has much easier access to the Bloor subway line. If you see anything along Bloor Street area, that's good. North Toronto (Yonge & Eglinton) also good, easy subway access.

The area given for the property in the last link appears to be incorrect. Church Street does not intersect Dundas West. All locations are good butthey are not within walking distance from UofT. If you want a place within walking to the university try Annex area. Pretty good area with lots of diverse restaurants.

All of the locations are good.

The Riverdale loft is located in a nice centrally located neighborhood, with easy access to the restaurants and shops of both Danforth Ave and Queen Street East. If you were staying long term (more than a month) I'd certainly recommend this location. It's a very livable neighborhood.

The Dalhousie Street condo is is in a downtown neighborhood and offers a more urban environment. It's a good location but may be more intimidating for those not used to being in a large city.

The Harborfront condo may offer the best experience for a short stay during the summer. The lake front location is very nice in the summer, walking or biking along the waterfront is a favourite activity. It's close to transit hubs, shopping areas and numerous restaurants.

I would choose the Harbourfront condo for sure. It's close to U of T as well as shopping/theatre/entertainment/sports/Toronto Islands and of course Harbourfront.

Little Italy is a residential area. There won't be a lot to do there.
