Weather and temperatures from Toronto down to New Orleans

I have another question which my group have queried, and that is what are the temperatures in September and October in Toronto, Boston, New York, Washington DC, Nashville, Memphis and New Orleans. I have Googled but we are travelling light and am thinking that layers i.e. lightweight fleeces, rain jackets would be adequate. As we are from a hot summer climate in Western Australia, it's hard to identify with how cold is cold?

Hi Janet;

Respectfully, historical weather data for all those cities, can be found searching the internet.

For Canadian cities;

hi

historical temps are one thing but what is really important is humidity levels and wind chill factors. We live in a dry climate and every time we go to the coast where the temps are often 10C higher we shiver and look for windbreaks and woolies.

Layers and fleece are good. Also good waterproof shoes if you plan to do a lot of walking. September and October can be rainy, but usually crisp and cool. Early September is warm. Temperatures will be warmer the further south you go, but assume it will feel damp the closer you are to the ocean - Boston for example.

Your average temperatures June through July would be about the same as the temps here in September & October.

I've been to New Orleans in October, and you've picked the perfect time to visit ........as has been said, the further south, the warmer the weather, so the layers and rain jackets are good for Toronto and Boston, et al, but it should be mild and sunny in NOLA..............with all the destinations you've got planned, and the time of year you're travelling, it sounds like it's going to be a wonderful vacation.......enjoy!

Thanks so much for your replies. It's reassuring to know when we hear from someone who lives there. And with such a big trip we don't want to overpack with stuff we don't need. So looking forward to the trip and the booking of hotels etc is part of the fun for us all. It's great to be able to get feedback from you all. Thanks again....
