What are some of best public gardens in Toronto? We will be in Toronto in late September. We are planning to visit Allen's Gardens .

I live right near Allen Gardens. It's an amazing place, but don't be turned off by it because at first sight it can be off-putting. When my mom came to visit I took her there and we saw a wedding party taking photos and ten feet away 5 homeless people drinking from paper bags, yelling and being disruptive. It's just one of those things you get downtown in a big city. But once you go inside it's pretty amazing.

High Park is huge and worth a look (accessible by subway).

Alexander Muir Memorial Gardens is a hidden treasure that I happened to discover last summer. I've lived here for 10 years and never heard about it until I walked past. There's a small gate that you go through and it leads to some of the best gardens in Toronto. Also accessible by subway. Take the Yonge line up to Lawrence and walk south for a few minutes.
