BP oil spill

The devastating effects of this tragedy are compounding by the day. The latest is that the spill has made it into the current which will carry it along the eastern seaboard and perhaps as far north as Canada. Is there any word on this mess reaching the shores of PEI?

Hi SunboundSudbury;

Just watching CNN, and the spill hasn't even migrated around the state of Florida to head north towards Canada.

Best Regards

That would be like saying you were going to toss a note in a bottle into the gulf of Mexico and wonder how long it will take to get to Canada. Seems unlikely.

Any problems will not be seen for a long time, and they will not be visible oil. It will be the soluble components that will be the most worriesome, particularly for the mussel farmers etc. Everyone is trying to calculate the effects of dilution etc, which is almost impossible, given that a good couple of gales can really churn and mix the waters unpredictably.

I'm sure if any increase in oil pollution reaches the Maritimes it will be front page news!

It certainly has no impact on anything yet.
