I'd like to plan a trip to PEI in the next year or two, staying at the Kindred Spirits Country Inn in Cavendish. My primary interest is Anne of Green Gables, so how much time should I allocate to be able to see everything related to Anne and to Lucy Maud Montgomery, to really enjoy it all without feeling rushed?
Second, what other highlights should I not miss, since this will probably be my only trip to PEI? Mainly I'd like to see beautiful scenery; I don't need to see wineries or breweries or shop. I don't need to spend time in history museums but enjoy strolling in historic areas. And some relaxing time on a beach; probably half a day would suffice.
Third, what is the window of time to visit -- at what point in the spring or summer is everything open, and at what point in the fall do things start to close down? Are there any weeks or weekends to avoid because of events that draw excessive crowds?
Thanks for your help. I'm planning ahead because I want to reread all the books before I visit!
