8 hour midnight layover

We're flying down to Cuba, from Calgary via Montreal, for our honeymoon at the end of May. On our return we're stuck with an 8 hour layover in Montreal. I've never been, neither has she. What scks, is that the layover is from 12 to 8 AM. What to do? Should we tough it out in the airport, or is there anything to see at that time of night that would get us back in time for our flight? Neither of us are big drinkers, and I'm sure that Air Canada isn't keen on allowing drunken newlyweds back on their plane.

There is a Hilton at the Airport also a Best Western chain hotel, get yourself a room and enjoy the fag end of your honeymoon.

I'd have to agree. Nothing of note nearby. Airport is pretty barren, so I'd opt for a room and a few hours of shut-eye.

If you want to try something different, though with no car you would have to take a cab. Go to St Viateur Bagel , on St Viateur Street off of St Laurent grab a dozen hot sesame seed bagels, some cream cheese and head up to the mountain's look-out and admire the city at night. Might cost you $70 or so. Could rent a car and be back by morning. Otherwise I am with the other suggestions, use the money to rent a room, and enjoy your honeymoon.

The bagel idea is really good, actually, if you are willing to be adventurous, save your overnight hotel money and spend the entire night out. -- The $70 estimate seems right to me. When friends arrive at the airport in the evening this is exactly where I take them. Been there many times over to talk the night away, too.

Any taxi driver would know "St-Viateur Bagel" or "Fairmount Bagel" (they're about two city blocks from each other). They're between St-Laurent and Park Avenue. That's exactly next to Mt.Royal. The mountain is sort of a romantic spot (uh, especially when you're in your own car though) and overlooks all of the east, incl. Olympic Stadium. On a clear night it's magnificent.

If you're gonna go down that adventurous route and spend the night out, the only place I can see you two going after is to the Casino, though. See if that fits your style. (Anybody knows a good 24h spot? I looked for one but couldn't come up with one).
