Outside Montreal

We have a half day to spend outside Montreal before flying out--have a car--any ideas?

Well depends on what half a day means. If you can leave your hotel very early and your flight being just in mid-afternoon or later then you could try to got to Mont-Tremblant if this happens after the US Thanksgiving or that week-end when the resort will be fully working. Not enough time for skiing but could be a nice drive and rest.

Another possibility would be Montebello where you can visit Parc Omega and then have lunch, or brunch during the week-end at the Fairmont Château Montebello.

Another thing that is closer to Mtl and, I think never suggested on this forum is the Beauharnois hydro-electric dam. Check this, alas in French only: hydroquebec.com/visitez/…beauharnois.html

Still another, although not open everyday in low season, Expo-Rail in Delson reviewed here in the Things to Do.

The Eastern Townships are aprroximately one hour southeast of Montreal off Route 10, www.easterntownships.org. Beautiful countryside scenery, hiking, biking, plus a great wine route.
