Hotel question: a different area to explore?

We are biking in and around QC at the end of July. Our iternary includes stays in the Auberge La Goelich, Manoir des Erables, and Chateau Frontenac.

Where should we consider spending a day and night in town before our tour begins? I'm thinking about a hotel or B&B in Quebec City, but a different area than the Chateau Frontenac.

Thanks!

Just outside the city gates, techically in Upper town, you will find on Rue St. Jean Auberge J.A. Moisan, the oldest inn and grocery store in the province. Read the reviews here. It is very well liked. You are about 5 minutes from the Old City by foot, and maybe 15 minutes from the Frontenac, the last portion walking up hill. You could easily stay there and explore Upper town, and when you get to the Frontenac, explore Lower towq by using the Funicular just outside.

The locals might have a few ideas in the St. Roch area, also bit further away.

Finally, you could stay in St. Foy, a suburb of the city where there are some hotels, but it is also near the malls and that would be about the only attraction there.

You will also like La Goeliche. Very nice location and good restaurant.

For something different you can stay on Cartier street, nice street with boutiques, restaurants, cafes, nice little bars

Or on Macguire street , very nice too, some very good restaurants there

Both streets are where people from Québec city go to eat, shop and have a drink.

Great suggestions above. I have been to all of the areas mentioned and would agree that any of these sections of the city would be fun places to explore. Another area is Rue St. Pierre and Rue St. Paul. If you like art galleries and antique stores this would be a good area for your extra day. There are nice hotels, great restaurants and other boutiques and it is just over all a lovely area to spend a day.

Best wishes.
