Inexpensive breakfast near Chateau Frontenac

Where can we have a quick and inexpensive breakfast near the Chateau Frontenac? We are a family with 3 kids and we'd rather spend on a good lunch or dinner.

Food doesn't seem to be cheap here. I have been eating breakfast at my hotel, Place d'Arms, which is very close. Their resteraunt, Pain Beni, has a very good breakfast (it's included in my room). Their menu is at http://www.painbeni.com/en

Basically everything for breakfast is $10, and it includes a lot. It will keep you fuelled up for a lot of walking and touring. Add on drinks, taxes and tip.

Something like a small bakery or pastry shoppe (where one could get danishes, muffins, breakfast sandwiches, fresh bread, soups, coffee, assortment of cold cuts and cheeses) would do quite well in old town. I'm not sure if there's anything like that in the area.

Yes, the store I suggested on Rue Desjardins, right behind the Aux Anciens Canadiens, sells pastries, baguettes, drinks, beer, wine and all manner of groceries. We go there all the time, they also sell ice cream. We buy the day before for breakfast.

There is Paillard on Rue St Jean, but it is further to walk and a bit pricier.

I agree with bogwoppit about Epicure Richard, which I beleive is the name, on the little side street behind Aux Anciens. I've shopped there numerous times, and for a little grocery/deli store, it does have everything.

When we were there recently we enjoyed Café Caffè, 46 Rue Garneau. It's 3-4 little blocks from the Chateau and had very nice cappuccinos and fresh pastries though it was Monday of a three-day holiday. It was reasonable without being cheap. There is also Chez Temporel, a more varied menu, a block or two past that.
