Hotel with parking

Hi, we plan to visit Quebec for 3 days in June. We'll be coming by car and want to visit the old city but would prefer not to have to drive through it to a hotel. Can anybody recommend a hotel where we can park the car for 3 days and hop on a bus to the old town?

You should give us your budget per night.

Well you don' have to hop on a bus to go to the Old Town as there are plenty of hôtels in and around the old city. If you want to learn more about the city layout just check those two of the Top Questions (box at the upper right corner of this page):

-What is the difference between Upper and Lower Town?

-I am confused about the layout of the city, how does it work?

In order of preference you should start by Upper Town intramuros, Lower Town historical section, Upper Town just outside of the walls and Lower Town near Gare du Palais. Then you have other possibilities along the highways or in the Sainte-Foy suburb but look at the first 4 options and you will be within walking distance of all the major attractions although in Lower Town, you might find the funicular or ecolobus a solution to climb the steep hill to get to Upper Town. As per parkings there are just a few hôtels that have some but you will find some city owned ones in all 4 of these prefered areas.

Thanks for asking about the budget Josee. We're looking for something reasonably comfortable so it's looking like we'll need to allow about $150 - $200 a night

Thanks for the link Stillrickb. Yes, driving through the city's an option, but as we're coming from crowded, traffic locked SE England we thought we'd explore if it was possible to avoid traffic while we're away. Just couldn't resist the lure of Quebec though!

I like the Alt Hotel in Quebec. It has free parking and you can take the bus a few steps ways,on Boul. Laurier... directly to Old Quebec. (Bus 800-801) Check it on Google map.

There are many hotels in that area. All of them have free parking and you would be able to take the same buses to Old Quebec. Check hotels on Laurier boul. in Ste-Foy.

Well the traffic is light in Québec City and rush hours quite short so I really suggest that you consider an hotel in the old parts that I have already mentioned.

Upper Town intramuros Hotel Clarendon is in the middle of everything and will fit in your budget and it is just in front of City Hall where there is an underground parking. A bit over your budget, same street as the Clarendon the Hotel Champlain is just a bit over your max but offers free breakfast included.

You may also look at the small hôtels united under the banner Hôtels du Parc. Oldish small properties intramuros, no elevators, just a few minutes more from the City Hall parking.

Also if they have a room, as it is very small and very well rated, the Maison JA Moisan is a great B&B located in Upper Town on Saint-Jean Street extramuros but still just a 5 minutes walk from the walls and offers free indoor parking and breakfast. It is located a bit out of the tourists paths but very close by and in a lively area full of locals.

J A Mosian is a great option, If it is something you would consider I would book ASAP ..it gets booked up quickly especially in the summer.
