I drive this 10+ times a year and use 3-4 routes depending on how I feel.
The easiest…just take highway #7 (SK) which turns into #9…and follow it all the way. Its a good highway (though can get busy), takes you through Drumheller which is a good gas stop, and overall, can be done quick.
A slight variation would be to continue on #9…don't turn to Drumheller…continue on #27 and then south on #21. Less km, but time wise…pretty much the same.
A quiet road to consider where you can increase your speed is just before Oyen, head south on 899, then west on #577 (straight highway with little to no traffic). The tricky part her is to either take it to Drumheller (add a few extra km, or take some back roads (569 to 564)…but some of the road is gravel, but interesting.
First one is the best….basically follow the signs.
Check out google maps as well for options.
If you have the time, stop in at Drumheller. It's a nice community. No matter which way you take, the roads aren't great and keep your eyes open for deer along the road.
