North or South Lake Tahoe for 2 day trip???

My husband and I have 2 days to spend at Lake Tahoe. We'll fly into Reno A.P. on Fri. May 6th in the late p.m. and fly out Sun. p.m. May 8th. So, we'll have all day Saturday and most of Sunday to "PLAY". We've never been to Tahoe. We'd like the following: 1) Cabin or hotel (not too pricey) 2) View of lake 3) Easy hiking/walking nearby 4) Boat tour of the lake 5) good restaurant (that can accommodate vegetarians) or a microwave in the room 6) A hot tub on a deck would be wonderful ! (probably not available on a small budget, right?) Is anything like this available on the north end of the lake? It would save us some driving time since we're coming down from Reno. If the south end is a better choice......no problem. Thanks!!

In King's Beach on the north shore we like Ferrari's Crown resort motel. It's right on the lake and has hot tubs. There are restaurants in walking distance and all have items on the menu for vegetarians. Our favorite is Jakes on the Lake. Nice salad bar.

Got my J's mixed up, sorry. It's Jason's Beachside Grille that is next to Ferrari's Crown, in King's Beach, but Jake's is great too.

For a nicer dinner, Soule Domain is located in a log cabin, across from the old Biltmore Casino at the North shore state line.

The Tahoe Gal out of Tahoe City has excursions to Emerald Bay starting May 7th, or different types of cruises to choose from.

Hi there,

For 2 days, you should book a hotel or motel room. Because most of the condos and cabins come with a checkout cleaning fee that is not cost effective for a 2 nights stay. Also, for 2 days I would recommend South Lake Tahoe. It is right by the lake, lots of restaurants and hotel choices. In fact, you can stay at the Casinos for fairly cheap. They have pool and hot tub. There are hiking and biking trails in the area, and places to rent boats etc. In the summer, we have rented bikes, and biked around the lake. We have also rented speed boats and cruised on the lake by ourselves. Or you can join a cruise on a larger boat.

The North shore is a lot quieter. If that's what you like, I do like Kings Beach area.
