Drive around the lake, visiting Vikingsholm at Emerald Bay. Take a lake cruise, Rent something to get out on the water....pedal thingies?....Swim. Gamble at the casinos on the Nevada side. Ride the gondola at Heavenly Valley and take the cable car at Squaw Valley up to the trailhead of the Pacific Crest Trail. Do some rafting on the Truckee River. Visit the Tallac Historic site at Camp Richardson. Visit the Stream Profile Chamber at the Taylor Creek Visitor Center. Visit the Thunderbird Lodge Historic site on a tour from Incline Village.

Hike to the top.

Among other things.

My biggest advice is stay at NORTH Lake Tahoe, not South.

I agree with Scott. Look at the Hyatt at Incline Village.

I'd stay on the north shore during the summer where you can be right on the lake, and the Hyatt in Incline Village is our favorite place. Here is the route to take, about 200 miles from Yosemite.

The Hyatt has a water activity desk at the lake, and you can rent boats or kayak's and other water sport things here. The best beach at Tahoe is Sand Harbor, 2 miles from Incline, where they have crystal clear water and nice beach facilities. We like to Kayak there from the Hyatt.

There are inviting pools and jacuzzi's, the Stillwater Spa, bike rentals, to ride on the bike lane on Lakeshore Dr. and see the million dollar homes at the lake on your ride, through pine trees, and 3 fire pits on the property to have a cocktail around or roast marshmallows. There is a casino on the property, as well as the Lone Eagle Grill restaurant lakeside.

From Incline you can visit Thunderbird Lodge, reservations in advance. Twenty minutes south is Zephyr Cove where you can ride 2 times a day on the MS Dixie 2 over to Emerald Bay and back, one is a lunch cruise. They also have a dinner cruise in the evening.

You'll have to check to see if rafting is open yet in June, it's usually up and running by July when we are there.

We love both areas of Tahoe. We were in Truckee a few months ago and loved The Ritz-Carlton when we were there. In South Lake Tahoe, we have enjoyed stays at Inn by the Lake & The Marriott Timber Lodge. Have fun! :)

I think you must have your lodging already figured out, as you don't ask about that. Puter's list is pretty good. Also, take a look on the left side and click on --- Things to Do, for more ideas.

You state- "we love the scenic route of any vacation !!!' You might be interested in renting some bikes along the west side - perhaps Camp Richardson and get closer to the scenery over driving.

I would also go with the North Shore if you have not already booked it. If you are on the South Shore and enjoy hiking then there are lots of great hikes up to the Alpine Lakes that are only a few miles in. Grab a map from one of the outdoor shops. Puter's list pretty much covers the rest. Have fun!
