Sorry another....Marriott Timber Lodge parking

We traded thru II for a week at Marriott Timber Lodge. We are celebrating our 40th birthdays! It's our first time to Lake Tahoe. I know they only have valet parking. Do we tip when they take the car as well as when we pick it up? How much do you suggest? I told my husband about parking at Harrahs but he doesn't want to leave the rental there.

Thanks in advance for any information!!

I've left my very own car there many times but everyone should do what they are comfortable with.

Only tip when you pick it up. SInce you are paying for parking I'd tip $2 or $3 at the Marriottt Timber Lodge. I'd only tip larger if there was no charge for Valet.

I looked it up and I see the valet charge is $26/day + tip. That will really add up for a week.

Thank you both for the information! We really appreciate it! I will try to talk DH into trying out the Harrah's lot. $26 a day seems pretty steep but I guess they can charge what they want.

Practically all major brand hotels are charging for parking these days. The Hyatt in Incline Village is still free parking, but I keep waiting for that to change, as they do charge in Hawaii.

I just got off the Maui forum, where they were talking of up to $25 Resort fees, and a $35 dollar Valet Parking fees at the hotels adding %50 to $60 a night more. I guess space is valuable, and they can get away with it. It's to get money from people who stay on FF points or trades.

They want to stiff the Valet, but he has nothing to do with the charge. I agree $2-$3 at the Timber Lodge is the going rate when you pick it up. Nothing when you return if for the day.

Thank you CAnative! We traded thru II at the Marriott KoOlina on Oahu last year and were considered owners so they didn't charge us for the $30 parking or whatever it is they charge. Same for my SIL this year. But we have had other Marriott's charge us so I guess it's not a company standard?? Oh well just less

money for us to lose at the casinos. Lol
