Lake Tahoe wedding

Hi,

I'm thinking of getting married in Lake Tahoe. Ceremony on a nice pier and then a small reception somewhere nearby, can anyone give us any hints of saving a bit of money and having a good time too. We have looked at hiring out a private residence and the fees are a bit outrageous. We have also looked at different sites but doesn't seem to give a good indication of what it might look like. Any help would be great.

Thanks

First congrats on your upcoming wedding.

Are you looking for 1. ceremony location? 2. reception location? 3. hotels for your guests? Or all of the above? You'll have to start by stating your budget, and how big a wedding it's going to be?

To save a bit of money you should look into a public beach or public park.

Get married on the rocks at Sand Harbor. There's a nice picnic area there. If it's summer, you want to be on the lake.

Hi, thanks, yes all of the above. Hadn't thought about a strict budget yet but maybe $4000-6000. It will be small, maybe 30 guests.

I am set on the pier thing so I just need to find somewhere with a pier or like you said using a public one, do you need to book and pay for those?

Looking for a simple cocktail style reception at or close by to accommodation for all guests.

Have you check The Knot? It's a wedding specific website with a relatively active forum.

Yes you'll have to book a public beach or park of pier. There'll be a fee, but probably less than private venue.

We stay at the Hyatt Hotel in Incline Village and have seen many weddings over the years, on their small private pier or other areas or gardens of their lake front property. Check with the hotel for rates, we've seen a handful of people to hundreds of guests in the ballroom. Right behind the pier is the Lone Eagle Grill, where they have sections for different size groups for receptions.

Here are a few places with nice piers...I'm not sure if they can be booked for weddings or what the price range would be.

Sunnyside Lodge

The Landing...but I have a suspicion that this one is expensive.

Camp Richardson

Franciscan Lakeside Lodge. This is a small place on the woodsy side with a small narrow pier but we did see a wedding there once. It might be short on amenities but is probably cost effective. It is a beautiful spot with some good restaurants nearby.
