Indian restaurnat close to airport

I'm on an overnight stopover at Stansted next Sunday night and was hoping to grab a nice curry.

I will be staying at the Radisson Blu onsite at Stansted airport and was hoping some one could recommend an Indian restaurant that is not too far away as I will have to rely on taxis or public transport.

Many thanks in advance

The airport is in a rural area. Good luck.

What about some Pot Noodles in the room? :-)

Can't recommend ANYthing out that way, but your nearest options would be in Bishop's Stortford (actually in Hertfordshire, so try the Herts forums), it's a sizeable town. Otherwise Takely is the closest 'townlet' in the other direction. Neither is especially close to Stansted though. However on this Essex forum there are threads on pubs-for-dining close by and other such things so have a bit of a browse or search.

Other than that I was going to suggest the yellow pages website that peterscot has posted, or you might, you just might, find something here:

Ultimately though, my advice would be to use the restaurant in the Hotel, it's not too bad and although not 'cheap', the money you save on a taxi in that area, could more than cover the cost of the 'extra' you might have to pay for food & drink there.

The best indian restaurant on a bus route from stansted is via the 133 bus to Rayne ~ then try the Raj of india at Rayne. 30 min bus transfer. Excellent cheap food ~ best around for miles. Look it up on trip for reviews

The Raj is a bit of a trek but I have to agree its brilliant. You have to book at weekends. there are supposed to be a good indian in Dunmow but sorry I cannot remeber the name. That would be far closer but still a cab ride.

The Dunmow option would be the Jalsa Ghar and the Queen Victoria http://www.jalsaghar.co.uk/ - but WARNING - it is at least 2 pounds a dish more expensive than the Raj of Rayne.....but I agree it is closer and also also on the 133 bus route from Stansted Airport.....good luck and let us know how you get on.

There is an Indian Restaurant at the De Salis Hotel which is very close to the airport. Read the reviews before you go.
