My parents are there right now so I'm really hoping they bring the guests somewhere safe. Does anyone know what they do when there's a hurricane?

My daughter is there now too . I spoke to the manager Owen. They have moved the remaining guests back from the beach to rooms facing the mountains and all windows are boarded up and taped . He said they have two weeks of water and food and the staff is in place. They have a Satilite phone and will be in touch with their Kentucky based main office. That office will be calling family of guests with info as cell phones will be out. He was very professional and reassuring but of course this is extremely serious . He said it could be a week or two till they can fly hone depending on the damage! Praying they are all safe!

There are meeting rooms in the basement that everyone goes to, to ride it out. Two years ago, my friends were there and after the hurricane, they found out some dummy on the top floor left his patio door open. The "leak" caused the wind to rush and in and pressurize the upper floor. This, in turn, caused the roof to be blown off so they were closed for some time afterwards.

The patrons were sent to Sonesta Maho and Riu Palace on the north side. The Riu Palace is where we went because we were arriving a week after and were in contact with our friends there who said it was closed. The Riu Palace was HORRIBLE. Will never go there again. Love the Sonesta Great Bay, though. Went last year and it was great.

A friend just sent me a pick of the pool area of this resort not 10 minutes ago. Looked to suffer quite a bit of damage, trying to find out where she obtained the pic..will let you know if I can provide a link.
