Weather in Mid Sept & shops/restaurant closings?

Hi,

My hubby are I thinking of doing a wknd getaway in mid Sept for our anniversary wknd (9/16-9/19). This would be our second trip there - really like the island & loved Grand Case for the food - we're bit of foodies. We are a bit skeptical though because of the weather & concerned whether many shops/restaurants will be closed. Any thoughts/recommendations?

Thks a Bunch!!

Erich Kranz noted some restaurant closings in his July newsletter. By the way, these news letters are free, all you need to do is request them with a simple sign-up on his website.

Yes, i think you will find quite a few closing during September. As for weather, if there are no tropical storms it will be very hot and humid. If there are storms, I hope you have trip insurance!

I am going 9/4-9/12 and am hoping to get a good week of weather. I am disregarding weather report because all locations in the region usually have the same forecast this time of year, scattered showers. I expect showers from time to time, just really hoping there isn't a TS or hurricane that substantially affects the weather. I have trip insurance through hotels.com and AA...but I don't want to use it!

Thks SXMlover & Bobcat, I'm going to check that newsletter. I guess we will have to check into insurance.

BMS1974, good luck!! I hope u do get good weather. Wondering, how much does insurance typically go for? We haven't had a need for it before, so don't know much about it.

Think we're gonna wait til this wknd to decide (lol)!

I just checked the newsletter - seems like he only offers restaurant info for the ones on the dutch side. I really didn't see any for Grand Case & Marigot restaurants.

Think, I'll e-mail him to see if he has any further info.

I belive I paid 60 per person for my wife and myself through AA, American Airlines, when I made my reservation through hotels.com, i need to re-read it but I think I am able to cancel the hotel ( Flamingo) 1 day before with some small penalty and my airline tickets are credited to me for use at a later date, there was also a medical component to it, and $$$ in case we were to get stranded at a connecting location due to flight delay etc. Not sure what other plans are available, I simply chose the plan offered through the booking process...

we have a duplex on the beach that we rent there since 2002 and i can you that August and part of Sep is the hottest period (it is "Africa hot"). and yes it is vacation on the French side so you may see a few closing. our favorite when we go is Dureche on the waterfront in Marigot but it is closed in August and reopen sometimes in Sep. that is why we prefer to avoid August (too hot!)
