Help...have just found our accommodation is overbooked!

We have just been informed that our accommodation has been overbooked, so we only have one week's accommodation and nothing for our second week.

Going to try and sort things out with booking agent tomorrow, but can't find much availability on their website.

We need an apartment for 4 for the week of 1-8 Aug...can anyone suggest anywhere within around 30 miles of Chania? We need a decent pool, a beach nearby and at least a few shops and tavernas for under £500

August is the busiest month of the year. Not a good time to be left in the lurch. I'd try bookings.com and search for Gerani, Stalos, Agia Marina, Kalyves. Alternatively, where are you staying the first week? Could you not have a look around when you are there?

You could look at purecrete.com to see of they have anything available.

Pure Crete doesn't rent apartments, seems to have a fixed change over day (weird!) which is Tuesday i.e 5th to 12th of August and their lowest price for the 5th to 12th of August is £577.

Thanks. We will be staying in Gerani on the first week. Although the accommodation have told us they are over booked, the agents haven't received conformation yet, so can't offer us alternative accommodation. I've had a search and found a few possible options, but can't proceed with anything. Very frustrating!

Look at ownersdirect, homeaway, holidaylettings - these are all private villa rental sites. I'd suggest if you find someone with a vacancy you could try to negotiate a discount as it's getting close to your travel date. Most allow you to see the bookingavailablility schedule.

For a change of scene without going a long way, I suggest you look at Kalyves, Almyrida & if you don't mind a drive to the beach :- Plaka, Kokkino Horio, Gavalohori, Vamos etc. There are hundreds of private villas in this region.

Thanks again for the further replies. The owners of our first week's accommodation have found us an alternative apartment in Ag Marina for the second week, even though the booking agents can't help us!

Thanks Yvonne. Have since had further difficulties and found that we no longer have the first week in Gerani :-(

Trying to look on the bright side and we will hopefully enjoy 2 weeks in Ag Marina instead. Only trouble is that the accommodation we have had to accept isn't nearly as nice.
