Today's Cape Town restaurant news

Gordon Ramsay's maze at the One and Only has closed.

Tokara has been taken over by Jardine's Wilhelm Kuhn and has appointed Richard Carstens as executive chef. A revamped Tokara restaurant will re open in October.

Gordan Ramsey probably felt that now the World Cup is over he didn't need free trips to Cape Town any more!

With Ginja closing down a couple of weeks ago, that's then two of the most (over) hyped restaurants in Cape Town closed. Fortunately at least ten times this number of new and exciting restaurants have opened in and around Cape Town since the begining of the year - a pretty good trade.

Interesting about Tokara. Richard Carstens needs to succeed somewhere and the glitz of Delaire across the road must have been taking business away. The new bistro-deli at Tokara will still be operating in the couple of months that the main restaurant is closed.
