Honeymoon

I am in the process of finding hotels in Cape Town which are value for money considering we will be arriving from Mauritius. Please suggest any recommendations you may have for us. Ideally we want to stay for five nights closer to the city center and/or the waterfront

You might want to give an indication of what you call 'value for money' in terms of how much per night you want to spend. One persons value for money is another persons blowing the budget.

We were budgeting for about 1000 dollars for five nights but pushing it to 1300. We are planning for mid January.

Must it specifically be a hotel or are you open to Bed and Breakfasts, Self Catering apartments suggestions?

Camps Bay is quiet Hip Hot & Happining, but if you prefer something very quiet and romantic, try Hermanus, it is just a one and a half hour drive from

Cape Town, on the coast and it is a lovely fishing town.

Plenty of places to stay with stunning sea views.

I will definitely check out cape diamond thank you for your suggestion. Also anything close to the V&A? That seems like a good location that came up during my many searches?

Given you budget have a look at the Protea Fire and Ice. Its a young and hip hotel. Their rates in January range from $990 - $1270 for 5 nights.

The first couple of weeks of January is peak rate time, several establishments reduce their rates from 16th January.

Keeping that in mind we are arriving in Cape Town on January 17th. One of the travel websites is offering a good rate for the Westin Arabella Quays. Has anyone stayed there? Also we were thinking of renting a car, so is it viable to rent is for the days we want to visit the wineries and table mountain or should we keep it for all five days?

Since we are short on time, which wine growing area would be better for us to visit.

Once again thank you all who have taken time out to help us with our honeymoon. :)

A car is advisable especially for a trip to Cape Point & the wine region of Stellenbosch & Franschhoek as well as for scenic drives around Cape Town areas.

If we are short on time then which area would be a better option to visit Stellenbosch or Franschhoek, unless both are in close proximity to each other. Which estates are worth a visit, preferably for red wine?
