Which restaurant did we miss?

We have the following already booked. Most we have already been to, so we would open to substitutions as well.... What restaurant (not on the list) do you think best reflects what Cape Town and surrounds have to offer?

Myoga

The Pot Luck Club

Rust en Vrede

The Greenhouse

Jordan Restaurant

Terrior

La Columbe

Overture

Camphors at Vergelegen

The Tasting Room at Le Quartier Français

3. Re: Which restaurant did we miss?

Rather depends where you are and what you want, those on you list are certainly worthwhile although I would not put Myoga and Hussar Grill in the same category as say The Test Kitchen (The very best IMO)

My personal order of preference might be

Franschhoek:

Tasting Kitchen (dinner only)

Ryans Kitchen (mostly dinner)

Le Bon Vivant

Bread & Wine (Lunch only)

Haut Cabriere

Pierneef la Motte

Racine is Reuben’s new restaurant – have not been so don’t know

Stellenbosch:

Rust en Vrede (dinner only)

Jordan (particularly lunchtime)

Overture

Tokara

Terroir

Indochine

Delaire

Somerset West:

Waterkloof

Camphors (have not been so ??)

Morgenster is going to have a new restaurant sometime soon

Paarl (ish):

Glen Carlou

Babel

Old Biscuit Mill:

Test Kitchen

Pot Luck Club (lunch time is lesss hectic)

Burrata

Constntia:

La Colombe

The Greenhouse

Buitenverwachting

Catherinas

Bistro Sixteen 82

V&A:

Mondiall (very new opened by the chef at The Greenhouse)

Willoughbys (for fish and v gd sushi - if you don't mind being in the mall and no view)

Harbour House (for fish)

CBD: (not in any particular order)

Savoy Cabbage (partic if you like offal)

Bizerca Bistro (good French)

Dear Me (great for lunch)

Hemelhvijs (lunch only)

Freres (decent French)

Café Dijon (decent French)

Carne (if you like meat)

95 Keerom (for Italian, but my last visit was not great)

Il Leone (another decent Italian)

Millers Thumb (for fish), popular with tourists

Sloppy Sam ( a real simple friendly local)

Fork (interesting tapas)

Hidden Gem:

Cargills (Rondebosch) small and intimate classic French

I am sure there are others that I have missed, but hopefully you will get others making suggestions.

Re: Willoughbys we have gone there a number of times for sushi lunches. Is this the top pick for sushi?

What about great Thai restaurants?

Other than Willoughby, for excellent sushi consider, Takumi, Kyoto Garden Sushi, and Nobu.

For Thai, Kitima in Hout Bay.

Kitima is excellent although I think of it more as an eastern restaurant rather than traditional Thai. Whilst in Hout Bay I also recommend Chapman's Peak hotel. It's not as fancy as most of those restaurants already mentioned but it has a great atmosphere, a friendly bar & the sea food, particularly the calamari, is excellent.

Ask for a table on the stoep.
