Yes, it is possible but very rare. It depends on the location of the Hotel, and whether it is adjacent to open areas. I lived in Seapoint, bordering the Table Mountain Park, and twice had snakes get into the apartment, through an open door.

I really don't think you need to be concerned about the appearance of snakes unless you will be living in an apartment or hotel/Guesthouse which borders on an area close to vineyards, bush etc. (where there is vegetation) and then only when it's hot. And how on earth can snakes wiggle up staircases etc.?

Easy, they use a ladder! Or if they are savvy, take the lift :-)

I thought the Ladders went up and the Snakes came down. They must use the lift!! I live on a property opposite a big open space and surrounded very close on three sides by the mountains of TMNP. In 11 years living here the biggest (and only) snake I have seen in my garden (nowhere near the house) was about 15cm long and., I am sure, harmless! I did once see a 1.50m long Cape Cobra crossing the road about 1km away from home. But then it didn't have a Ladder or a Lift, and needed to get to the "Other Side" - as the Chicken for lunch was already there!

Don't they have to slither past Security?

I really don't know as I have never been before but the only snake I'm expecting in our hotel room is the "one-eyed trouser snake".
