Cape town and the surroundings by car or hop on hop off bus

Hi,

I`ve read that Cape town has a hop on hop off bus. Is it a good idea to explore Cape town and the surroundings by the bus and public transport or would be a car for the whole time during we are in Cape town better ?

Thansk

Jan

I would say use both. Use the HOHO services for the first few days then hire the car for Cape Point & elsewhere further afield.

For Public Transport use only the new "My Citi Busses" which only go to certain areas. The rest of our Public Transport is not good.

Hi Jan

Use the HOHO buses to go around the whole peninsula, to get your bearings and learn some of our history etc, but you will also need a car as Cape Town public transport is limited. There are two types of HOHO buses - the red city tour bus which goes between the city and Table Mountain and various close-in points of interest and the blue mini peninsula tour bus which goes around the peninsula. There are specials online for about R230 for a 2 day pass for both buses plus extras. Good luck. (All the buses are actually painted red…!)

Enjoy your visit.
