Best East End Dinner Choices for Family with Ten Yr Old Kids

We are travelling to GC in October and staying at The Reef with our 10-yr-old twin boys. We will be doing breakfast and dinner in our room, but plan to dine out at night. I would love suggestions on the best places for our dinners. We will have a car, so anywhere on the island is fine. This is our first time staying in the East End, so we are looking forward to checking out the restaurants on this side of the island. I'm excited to hearing everyone's suggestions.

My husband and I like all types of food and are fairly adventurous. My boys are mac & cheese, chicken nugget types, but will venture out to try a little fish, but that is it.

Looking to splurge a couple of nights, but hopefully finding those mid-priced places that locals like other nights.

Tukka sounds great, but do they have any options my boys would like? Also looking for places that are appropriate for kids. Our boys are well behaved, but we prefer more casual fun atmospheres to stuffy fine-dining places.

This will be our third time on the island, but first time with our kids.

Thanks!!!

You can take the kids anywhere on that side of the island. There is a nice italian place across from the Reef, not cheap, but good. .I don't think there are any mac and cheese places on that side of the island, but can't remember. Kaibo's beach dining might have some kid items and you can get fried fish there. Fish at Kurts Korner in Old Man Bay is reasonable. Over the Edge is good too

I just found the Kaibo kids menu

There are 2 sites that have restaurant listings

http://www.caymangoodtaste.com

http://www.caymanrestaurants.com

Look for the ones in East End and Rum Point.

For a pricier meal, there is also the Lighthouse in Breakers and Rum Point Club Restaurant.

There is a subway at the Reef.

We have taken our kids to most of these restaurants at one time or another and they were always welcomed with open arms. Our kids are not the mac and cheese or nugget type so they had absolutely no problem finding something they liked, usually a nice piece of Mahi or a hamburger. They live for the Cayman bread at Over the Edge.

I would strongly suggest the Italian Kitchen across from Thr Reef Resort and Over the Edge just up the road a bit more.

Over the Edge is good when the French lady is there waiting on tables, but is an utter disaster when she isn't.

We went there this past July and were told there were no tables available on the deck notwithstanding that we could see several that were open. We then ended up being completely ignored for twenty minutes as other parties that came after us were seated out there and served drinks while we sweated in the very hot dining room.

We ended up walking out in disgust and may never return. This was the second time the service was abysmal, and I'd certainly never go there with hungry kids and chance subjecting them to that.

Since you will be staying right across the street, you can get take out at the Italian Kitchen and then eat dinner on your patio with the great view!
