We payed 1,50 per person per day at hotel Campaniel. I am not sure whether the tax is the same for B&B's, hotels, etc.

For a B&B it's 1.5€ per person per day in low season which is what it will be in November.

Since late 2012 the low season was modified for the purposes of the City Tax and defined as beginning December 1st and ending 31 January. (see …venezia.it/flex/… not available in English)

Many thanks for all the info.

I am being asked for 3 euros per night., which looks as if I am being ripped off!

The rates are published, and are per person per night. veniceconnected.com/sites/default/files/imce… indicates (on p.8) that for a B&B the rate is € 3 per person per night, which is the correct amount. Do keep in mind that it is a local tax and goes to the city, not to the hotel (something about which many hoteliers have staged protests, since they result as local tax collectors).

Thanks for the clarification and the excellent link.

However, it still seems a bit on the steep side for this type of accommodation compared with only €5 per night for a 5 star hotel!
